I
will always remember when I met Sarah Negahdari. The Happy
Hollows had opened for The Little Ones at Spaceland, but
I had missed their set, and later while The Little Ones
were performing Sarah picked up a couple tambourines from
the edge of the stage and handed me one to play along with.
I had no idea who she was or that she had played that night
but immediately realized that she was a very special person.
After the show she explained that she was in the opening
band and I apologized for missing her set. She rebuffed
my apology and eagerly invited me to their next show. Later
when I started photographing bands the first show I photographed
was a Happy Hollows show at The Echo and I honestly feel
that if it wasn't for the support of Sarah and The Happy
Hollows, as well as The Henry Clay People who I met that
night, I wouldn't have stuck with photography.
But
what was so obvious that night when I first met Sarah was
how kind and thoughtful and compassionate she was. She is
always smiling, always excited about sharing her life or
listening to what's going in yours, and always honest. In
a world divided between the compassionate and the selfish
it would be nice if there were more people like Sarah Negahdari.

So
I saw the Samsung commercial you guys did on YouTube. What
was that experience like?
Sarah Negahdari: Oh my gosh, it's was crazy,
where do I even start. It was very professional and the
people who produced the commercial, a company called PSYOP,
are very talented visually and with animation. It was just
a very unique and fun experience.
Did
the people working on it, they may not have known who you
are but were they responding to your music? Because I assume
they were hearing your music on set.
SN: A lot of the people came up to us and
said they liked the song. They entire crew was very nice
and professional and we had a great time working with them.
I
remember watching it and remembering seeing the dress you
were wearing, it had black and white stripes and thinking
how funny it was. I often see you in the same outfits, they're
identifiable, but I immediately noticed that outfit dress
was new. I was thinking, "where did she get that, it's
so cool and so her."
SN: Actually, it’s really funny but
I wear a very similar black and white shirt all the time.
That is why I picked out that outfit. They wanted me to
wear a different outfit, but I chose that dress because
I felt it was me! Unfortunately they didn’t let me
keep the clothes I used.
